India to Launch First 'Made in India' Semiconductor Chip by September or October: Ashwini Vaishnaw

New Delhi: India is set to receive its first 'Made in India' semiconductor chip in September or October, as confirmed by IT Minister Ashwini Vaishnaw. Tata Electronics, in partnership with Powerchip Semiconductor Manufacturing Corporation (PSMC), is setting up the country’s first semiconductor fab in Dholera, Gujarat.
Until now, India has been importing semiconductor chips, but this initiative marks a significant step toward domestic manufacturing. This project is expected to make India self-reliant in the semiconductor sector and strengthen its position in the global semiconductor supply chain.
The IT Minister stated that this move will not only enhance India's chip manufacturing capabilities but also play a crucial role in positioning India as a key player in the global semiconductor industry.
